Nurturing and Equipping Disciples
to know Christ
and make Christ known
Mission
Mission can be seen as a goal or a purpose that is accompanied by a strong calling or vocation. In Christianity we believe in the mission of God, the mission that belongs to God, the mission that flows from the very heart of God and is about God’s overflowing love in order to reconcile the world to God. The church’s role as God’s chosen partner is to discern the work of God that is already happening in the world and then to join in with what God is doing.

At All Saints our Mission, our calling and vocation, and our partnering with God’s mission is Nurturing and Equipping disciples to know Christ and make Christ known. With a strong sturdy foundation and strong Pillars to support and guide us we hope to see this mission bear fruit for generations to come.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matt 28:19-20)
Pillars
Pillars are often seen as a tall strong vertical structure that are used as a support for a building, ornament, or monument. Pillars are also an important part of a group, place, or activity that help make it strong and successful. Overall pillars support something that is bigger than the pillar itself. But Pillars can also be a guide, something that helps lead the way, as we see in Exodus 13.21-22
“The Lord was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.”

At All Saints, our Pillars are Worship, Nurture, Equip, and Serve. These four pillars are strong structures that support us but also guide us (just as the Lord guided the Israelites with pillars of cloud and fire) in our Mission to Nurturing and Equipping disciples to know Christ and make Christ known.
Values
Values are standards of behaviour of the things that we believe are important in the way we live. They guide and motivate our attitudes and actions; they are something that we are, they are a foundation. At All Saints our values are Faith, Hope, Love, Community.

Faith – We are guided by faith in God Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we trust in him and his word and have faith in his guidance, support, and love. We step out in faith with God. Hebrews 11.1 says “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Hope – We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit and of what God has promised us in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As Romans 8.24-25 says “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”

Love – We are guided by the deep love Gods has for us and we flourish by demonstrating that love to others. 1 John 4.8 says “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love” and John 15.12 “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

Community – We desire to follow Christ together by serving as Christ served and do so with respect by nurturing relationships, and as Hebrews 10. 24-25 says “let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
